Explore the Palace of King Minoan, the labyrinth and the myth of Minotaur, the archeological museum and the capital of Crete.
On this tour we will travel east, along the north coast of the island, direction to Heraklion. We will visit one of the most well-known archeological sites in the world, the famous Minoan palace of Knossos, considered Europe’s oldest city.
The location was inhabited almost 6000 years BC and on the ruins of the Neolithic settlement was built the first Minoan palace, home of the legendary King Minos, and the economic, political and social center of Minoan civilization that flourished 4000 years ago.
Knossos is strongly associated with several key symbols such as bulls and double headed axes and the fascinating myth of the Labyrinth and the Minotaur.
Our next stop is the vibrant capital city of Crete, Heraklion. We have three and a half hours free time, for shopping, taking a walk in the historical center of the city and visiting the new archeological museum with all the important findings of the Minoan era.
